The underlying corneal tissue is then reshaped using an excimer laser to rectify your vision. Following that, the flap is returned to its original place.

It is used on patients whose corneas are too thin for LASIK surgery. This procedure is performed under drop anesthesia, so the patient does not experience any discomfort.

After the laser treatment, the corneal layer is folded back and a contact lens is placed on top of it. The contact lens is kept in place until this layer heals. The eye may burn, itch, or feel as if something is in it during the first few days. The vision improves the next day with this procedure, but it takes longer to recover (3 to 4 weeks) than LASIK.

A cataract is a clouding of the lens inside the eye that causes vision loss that is uncorrectable by glasses, contact lenses, or corneal refractive surgery. The damaged lens of the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial lens during cataract surgery. Our surgeons perform cataract surgery using a technique known as "phacoemulsification (FAO)." in which the eye's internal lens is emulsified with  ultrasonic waves.

A cornea transplant (sometimes called a keratoplasty) is a medical operation in which a surgeon replaces a portion of your cornea with corneal tissue from a donor. This tissue can be collected from local or international eye bank.

A cornea transplant can be used to treat a variety of disorders, including:

• Corneal ulcers, particularly infection-related ulcers

• Scarring of the cornea as a result of illness or damage

• Fuchs' dystrophy

• Thinning of the cornea

• A cornea that bulges outward (keratoconus)

• Clouding of the cornea

• Swelling of the cornea

• Complications caused by previous eye surgery

Glaucoma, often known as "eye pressure disease," is one of the most common causes of blindness in persons over 60. While it can happen at any age, it is more common in seniors. Because glaucoma vision loss is irreversible, it's critical to get frequent eye exams that include measures of your eye pressure so that a diagnosis may be made early and treatment can begin. Vision loss can be delayed or prevented if glaucoma is detected early.

Neuro-ophthalmology is a branch of ophthalmology that deals with illnesses of the optic nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, and the optic tracts. The tissues between the eye and the brain can be affected by a range of central nervous system disorders, such as strokes, infections, multiple sclerosis, and tumors, as well as systemic diseases. These illnesses are diagnosed at a well equipped electrophysiology unit in collaboration with the Department of Neurology, where specialist tests such as VEP, ERG, and EOG are done.
